On October 25, Saturday, the second day of the 2025 ISU Grand Prix Series Cup of China took place in Chongqing. South Korean figure skater Haein Lee performed her free skate to music from the musical Notre-Dame de Paris. She earned a combined score of 177.32 points, finishing 9th overall. Here’s a translation of her comments posted on MFocus.
“There were some mistakes with the jumps today, but I tried to maintain my speed throughout and focus more on choreography and expression. Jumps are something I can rebuild, so I’m not too worried about them.” When asked about positive aspects of her performance, she added, “I worked hard to show improved choreography and artistic presentation this time, and I’m satisfied with that effort.”
The Cup of China marked Lee’s first Grand Prix appearance in two years. Throughout the event, her refined expression and stable skating drew significant applause from spectators. Speaking about the experience, she said, “I really enjoyed competing against so many talented skaters at this Grand Prix. Watching their performances made me realize how difficult the journey to get here must have been for everyone. It motivates me to work even harder so I can continue competing with such incredible athletes for a long time.”
Haein Lee’s next competition will be Skate America, taking place from November 14 to 16 in Lake Placid, USA. Reflecting on her goals, she stated, “This competition helped me pinpoint the areas where I need to improve. Over the next three weeks, I want to focus on refining my jumps and adding more details to my program’s expression.”
