Estonian single skater Niina Petrokina took part in a control start over the weekend at the Gliss Open competitions held at home and won it with a total score of with 186 points,. Here’s a translation of his comments posted on ERR.
“Right now, my form is gradually improving, but it’s not the best at the moment. We are aiming to peak for the European championships. I performed my programs and we listened to the judges’ comments, and now we’re starting to work with them,” Petrokina told.
“In training, it’s much better; I feel in good shape. But at competitions, I still can’t show that side of myself yet. I think it will take some more time to be able to show my best performance,” she added.
“I’m trying to maintain this routine and discipline, trying to go to bed earlier so that I won’t have issues with that. When I sleep well, I have more energy,” Petrokina said.
Petrokina anticipates more intense training sessions on the ice. “I think we’ll start lowering the loads three or a couple of days before the Europeans, but right now it’s work, work, work,” she noted.
