Yana Rudkovskaya believes that Alexandra Trusova can return to the Olympics in 2030. Trusova, who is 20 years old, has not competed since November 2022. She is currently participating in ice shows produced by Evgeni Plushenko, for whom Rudkovskaya is a producer.
“I think she has a good chance for 2030. It will be very difficult to come back, especially considering that there are young girls coming up like Lena Kostyleva and Margarita Bazyluk.
We have many excellent athletes, very technical ones. Of course, you wonder how it’s possible to return to the Olympics at 25? But I have an example of my husband (Evgeni Plushenko), who no one ever believed would come back, yet he returned at 27 and again at 31.
Trusova is a girl with a very strong character. I have never met such athletes in my life.
Sasha’s story is a Cinderella story – a girl from Ryazan. Why did she become an example and a symbol of women’s figure skating? Because she overcame, she did everything to fulfill her dream — to land five quadruple jumps. She has a very strong character.
She is an extraordinary girl. If Sasha really wants to return, I think it is possible. How she will come back, what place she will take, is unclear—but she will fight,” said Rudkovskaya.

Judging by the way that Yana says this, it sounds like Sasha isn’t planning to come back for 2026 :(
Anyways…
While she’s not my favorite skater to watch, I do admire her, and I think Yana’s right. It may be a challenge, but I’m rooting for Sasha, I want to see this. I think it will be good.
Yana Rudkovskaya is not a figure skating specialist. What’s the point of quoting her words?
