In an interview with Sport24, Yana Rudkovskaya revealed that Emmanuel Sandhu will perform in Evgeni Plushenko’s show. Here’s a translation.
“Q: Have you hosted shows in five foreign countries over the past year and a half, or am I mistaken?”
Yana Rudkovskaya: Yes, besides Belarus we also held shows in Uzbekistan, China, Azerbaijan several times, Kazakhstan – Almaty, Astana. There were two arenas, everyone was satisfied. Everything was done at the highest level.
Let me share a secret – on Saturday night, Canadian Emmanuel Sandhu flew to Belarus to meet us. He came to participate in our shows. He was among those who always performed before the Special Military Operation, but missed the last two years. And now he has already started rehearsals. And I am very happy that Javier [Fernandez] also skated with us.
Q: So, are international contacts being established?
Yana Rudkovskaya: I don’t know about others, but for us, they are being re-established.
Q: Was it difficult to persuade Javier?
Yana Rudkovskaya: No, not at all. It’s a pity that he had his own plans for New Year and cannot perform in Moscow, but I am glad that Emmanuel came. He skates very extravagantly. He is well-known worldwide, he is a Grand Prix Final winner. By the way, it was the only time Emmanuel beat Evgeni Plushenko.
Q: Is it realistic to see Javier in Russia? Do you want to bring him here?
Yana Rudkovskaya: We are negotiating not only with Javier. Evgeni still holds a great reputation in the world of figure skating, and many are ready to collaborate with him. I am very glad that Javier agreed and looked amazing in our shows.
I can say that based on audience reception, Evgeni, Javier, Sasha Trusova, and Sasha Plushenko were the main stars of the show, whether someone likes it or not – it was obvious from the videos. You can’t fool the audience.
You could see for yourself the scale of our shows, the costumes, the number of ballet artists and skaters. You must agree, it is beautiful.”
