Shun Sato commented on his attitude and goals for the upcoming season. Here’s a translation of his comments.

At the Japanese team press conference held on the 30th in Tokyo for the opening of the 2024-25 figure skating season, Shun Sato (20) announced that this season’s theme for him is “Enjoyment.”

“I want to have fun. Last season, there were many competitions where the focus was on landing jumps. But at last year’s Japanese Nationals, I was able to perform enjoyably, and I want to have more competitions like that this season.”

In a discussion on his “Concentration Method,” Sato revealed his routine involves taking a “bath (shower).” He explained, “I can’t go to sleep or eat, and if I fiddle with my phone, I end up thinking about the competition. Taking a shower helps me clear my mind.”

As it’s the pre-season for the Olympics, Sato emphasized, “I think it will be a season of great challenges for me. I want to approach every competition without fear of failure, and with the mindset that it’s okay to fail.”
