President of Lithuania Gitanas Nauseda has signed a decree revoking the Lithuanian citizenship of figure skater Margarita Drobiazko.
“The President signed the corresponding decree on Friday,” said presidential adviser Ridas Jasiulionis to the BNS agency.
In June, the Chairwoman of the Lithuanian Seimas (Parliament) Viktorija Cmilyte-Nielsen stated in an interview with local media that the procedure for revoking Drobiazko’s citizenship had effectively been initiated. The reason cited was her participation in Tatiana Navka’s show. Previously, the office of the Lithuanian president announced that Drobiazko had been invited to attend a commission hearing regarding the revocation of her citizenship.
Drobiazko was born in Moscow but began representing Lithuania after the dissolution of the USSR, skating in pairs with Povilas Vanagas. Together, they won a bronze medal at the World Championships and a two-time European bronze medalist. Drobiazko has also competed in five Olympics.

What about foreign companies, businessmen, politicians who have been cooperating with Putin &Co for years? This is Putin’s war nr 7 – him and his methods have NOT changed. And the poor figure skater has to answer now…
With all she did for Lithuanian figure skating, I find her citizenship revocation to be over the top. The individuals involved should not be sanctioned based on their nationality!
That’s absolutely atrocious. Vanagas did mention in an interview years ago that they had issues in the 90s because she is Russian. So what is she and her husband participated in ice shows? They need to make a living. If we apply the same logic, should we not strip citizenship of those who support Israel? I’ve read her post and the disparaging comments on her instagram are shocking and disgusting. If she does disagree with the war, she can’t speak out like in other countries.
Isn’t she married to Vanegas?
If you insist on working for the wife of Putin’s press secretary, people are going to tell you to go to hell.
Wow, it feels like going too far… Welcome to the free world.
