Piper Gilles: Hi everyone, I hope you guys are doing well. I wanted to jump on here and kind of talk a little bit about the last couple of months, they’ve been quite crazy and I just wanted to said my story straight a little bit because I like to share everything about myself and be honest, authentic as possibly can.

Back in December-January I was actually diagnosed with stage 1 ovarian cancer so I wanted for surgery I acually did have to get my appendix out as a percoution because we wasn’t sure what type of tumor was inside of me on my left ovary. I wanted to tell you that I wasn’t completely lying, our team baisicly wanted to protect myself and protect Paul so that when we did return to the ice we didn’t have to have that extra pressure of talking about my situation. Because it was really difficult and I feel even now I’m still digesting everything and even that word “cancer” it’s frightning. I know from myself, you gyes all know my mother passed away from cancer, so hearing that was a lot to digest.

So to really just to protect myself and let myself focus on what I wanted to that was finishing the season of strong and medaling at Worlds. I know we got bronze, but for myself and I know for Paul it really feels like we won gold because of just everything that we’ve been through, just to even be there and perform. I’m just so filled with gratitude that I had an incredible doctor who helped me every step on the way and physio. My physio was literally my life line the person I cried with the most probably and again Paul, Carol, Juris, John and my husband who so so so kind and supportive. I don’t know, they held my hand through every step of the way, I don’t know what I would do without those guys.

I’m going be sharing my story a little bit more on May 8th which is World Ovarian Cancer day to share my story and give you a little inside look to what went on the last couple of months. That’s my story and I’m just thankful I have all of you guys reach out and wish my speedy recovery. I’m so incredibly grateful that I’m still able to do what I get to do every single day and I’m so excited to be on tour with Stars on Ice and perform for all of you guys.
