Evgenia Medvedeva: This is a topic of psychology: depending on how you treat a defeat. Each person perceives silver or bronze differently.

We are not talking about gold, but we are talking about winners. For some, this is just a delight: someone aims for an average result, a 6th–7th place finish, and they finish in the prizes! Wow! And they stand and have tears of happiness. “Wow! I’m the third.”

And when you come to be in the lead and have a medal finish, and it’s already happened, it’s not going anywhere. Of course, if it upsets you, you can feel hurt, you can worry; these are human emotions, and we have the right to do so.

The main thing is to accept and understand that nothing can be changed. And if there is an opportunity to change, it’s cool; you can try again, forget, and go do it again.

In my situation, nothing can be changed, but it’s necessary to look for the pros. Of course, there are some painful moments when it hurts me. This is my past; nothing can be done about it.

In this silver, I found motivation to move forward and prove to myself that a medal is not the only way for a person to establish themselves in society. There are a huge number of paths that you can follow and develop, become better, become an example for yourself. Therefore, this experience of losing can be transformed into motivation.

But I want to note that sometimes it is not enough for me. When a little bit is not enough, in life it can be painful, but it helps a lot. I have achieved something, but no, it is not enough. Something is always missing. Maybe it’s good.
