“This means that some Russian priorities remain. Anna is a worthy person! But she won’t be allowed to win the ISU award because she is from Russia.” Zhulin on Shcherbakova being nominated for the ISU Skating Awards-2023
Olympic figure skating champion Anna Shcherbakova has been nominated for the ISU Skating Awards-2023.
It is expected that the skater will compete for the award in the Most Valuable Skater category and will be the only representative of Russia at the award. The ISU Skating Awards will take place on February 5, 2023.
Comments from Russian coaches
Tatiana Tarasova: Shcherbakova’s nomination for this award is absolutely deserved.
The only representative from Russia? I am glad that Shcherbakova was named. I think there is a chance win the nomination. The competition will be high.
Let’s hope! All people are worthy; they have been champions for many years. They promote their sport.
Alexander Zhulin: Very nice. This means that some Russian priorities remain. I don’t know about the merits, but in the current situation, it pleases.
Anna is a worthy person! The only thing is that she will not be allowed to win the ISU award because she is from Russia. I’m afraid she doesn’t stand a chance. But the fact that she was included in the nominations is already a good thing.
Irina Rodnina: She (Shcherbakova) was nominated based on the results, and you can’t take away the result. Therefore, I do not see anything surprising. This is a fair decision.
I don’t know with whom she will have to compete, but if you take the results that she showed last season, then she has a great chance of winning.
