Tatiana Totmianina: I am proud of our team, which performed excellently at the Tokyo Olympics. Our athletes respect rivals, refereeing, organizers, they never mix politics with sports, which cannot be said about others. And this is just a mockery.

I don’t even want to recall the statements of the American athlete who accused our swimmers of cheating, he does not deserve attention, but what they did to Dina Averina is beyond the bounds.

At the end of the Olympics, right on cue, the judges decided to make a final attempt to break our team, giving low marks to the beautiful girls-gymnasts. Yes, it’s a shame. Yes, it hurts! Up to tears! But can this weaken us? No!

What’s next? In winter, they will take away our women’s figure skating, where we are ahead of the whole world? The more we resent, the more pressure on international associations will be. And the less chance that this will happen again. Our team performed better than ever!

It is a pity that the Olympics are turning into a political show, where sports factors are far from the first place. I would like to believe that this will change. And the athletes’ citizenship will cease to be the reason why they do not receive a well-deserved award. Guys, you are great! We are proud of you!”

The problems came at the 2014 Winter Olympics. Looks as if Sochi is a bit like Southern Italy. Putin was not involved and grateful that the IOC took over.
Putin revenge is moving the F1 from Sochi to a new purpose built circuit in St Petersburg. Layout agreed with FIA. Part built it looks great.
