Russian test skates 2016: men’s short program [video]
Russian test skates 2016, day 1st, men’s short program.
Sergei Voronov
Strange and ambiguous music seems to be a trend of Goncharenko’s group. Physical shape doesn’t look promising(
Gordei Gorshkov
Gordei continues to try quadruple loop…..unfortunately, big underrotation.
Atrur Dmitriev
Oh….I’m got bored starting with Adagio……..
Alexander Petrov
Quad still isn’t there, but at least I hear some not a warhorse music and some nice choreography. If I’m not mistaken, this program is choreographed by Misha Ge.
Mikhail Kolyada
Mikhail is keeping his last season’s program. Rumour has it, that it was a recommendation from the Russian figure skating federation. Sadly, I think Misha grew out of this program. According to a jump layout he’s going to try a quad salchow this season. Hmm two quads in a short program….As for me it’s too risky, especially with a newly learned jump.
And the biggest surprise of the first day Maxim Kovtun
Two quads and triple axel, interesting program. This time ironic style suits him a lot. I don’t know what Inna Goncharenko did with Max, but I think everyone was surprised to see such Kovtun!

I hope Mikhail at least tries a different costume with the program, it’s rather distracting.
I’m impressed with Kovtun, hope he keeps going in the right direction.
Agree, Mikhail needs a better costumes.
He would look good in something simpler. Even if you’re going to use a loud pattern, make it fun without making our eyes go crazy. Like Fedor Klimov’s Addams Family costume – theatrical and playful, but not so distracting that one can’t watch.
Whom? Kovtun?
Mikhail Kolyada.
