“Nothing can stop our girls from winning and skating amazingly. In Norway, there are no skaters at all, not a single person – what proposals can they make?”
Russian officials and specialists commented on the proposal by the Norwegian Skating Association to raise the age minimum in figure skating.
According to the initiative, minimum age for competing in seniors will be 17 for women and men, and 16 – for ice dance and pairs.
The head of the Russian Figure Skating Federation
Alexander Gorshkov: We have already stated more than once that our federation is categorically against raising the age minimum, and we are ready to argue our position once again.
Why does Norway need it? Let those who propose it answer this. Better ask them.
Tatiana Tarasova: Nothing can stop our girls from winning and skating amazingly. It would be better if the Norwegians tried to prepare someone of their own than to make any proposals.
In Norway, there are no skaters at all, not a single person – what proposals can we talk about? Our girls win and will win at any age, because they are the best.
Irina Slutskaya: Dear Norway! And even at 17, we will still defeat everyone and everything.
Alexei Yagudin: Very funny. Norway, do you have any figure skaters? Maybe we’d better ban asthmatics in biathlon and skiing?
Anna Levandi: “Russian women’s skating is a completely separate world, which no one competes with. All the rest are in too unequal conditions.”
