German pair skater Minerva Fabienne Hase teamed up with Russian skater Nikita Volodin.
The Figure Skating Federation of Russia (FFKR) approved Volodin’s transfer, after which the German Skating Union filed an application with the International Skating Union (ISU). As a result, the pair of Hase and Volodin received the right to compete under the German flag starting from June 23, 2023.
“On Wednesday, the German Skating Union (DEU) received the authorization from the International Skating Union (ISU) for the new pair Minerva Fabienne Hase/Nikita Volodin. The 23-year-old skater from St. Petersburg is the new partner of Berlin-based pair skater Minerva Fabienne Hase. Consequently, starting from the upcoming season, the new pair will represent Germany together in international competitions.
After obtaining the clearance for Nikita Volodin from Russia, the DEU applied to the ISU for the right to compete as the pair Fabienne Hase/Volodin and received the authorization within a few days, effective from June 23, 2023. The new pair Minerva Fabienne Hase/Nikita Volodin will be able to compete for Germany in international competitions from the 2023/2024 season onwards, joining the ranks of three strong German pair skating teams at the forefront of European competition. The ambitious goal of this promising new pair is to secure a spot at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan, Italy.”
Hase is 23 years old. She placed 5th at the 2022 World Championships with her previous partner Nolan Seegert.
Volodin is also 23 years old. He won a bronze medal in the 2016 Youth Olympic Games with his previous partner Alina Ustimkina.
