Lorenzo Magri: “We’ll do our best to continue the path they have started with Morisi Kvitelashvili in the Tutberidze group – one of the best groups in the world.”
Italian coach Lorenzo Magri spoke about cooperation with the Georgian figure skater Morisi Kvitelashvili, who temporarily moved from the group of Eteri Tutberidze.
Lorenzo Magri: All agreements were reached only a month ago, during the junior Grand Prix in Enya. So we just started working together.
At the time of Morisi joined our group, I already had a complete plan of flights and competitions for this season with other skaters. Therefore, I immediately told him and the Georgian federation “Let’s try to work the way it was done in your previous coaching staff.” During the Grand Prix series, I won’t be able to pay much attention to you at trainings, but let’s get to know each other and do our best.
I managed to work with Morisi for only 5 days. I go to competitions with other skaters. Therefore, for now, my colleagues, Angelina Turenko and Alisa Mikonsaari, are mainly working with him. But we are only at the beginning of the journey. Now the main task is to make his skating shine. Morisi is keeping his programs, my friend Daniil Gleikhengauz has done a good job.
I was happy to find this out and I can assure everyone that we will do our best to continue the path that they have started in the Tutberidze group – one of the best in the world. It’s great that we maintain such friendship in our sport and are able to separate what is happening in the world from the world of figure skating.
Our doors are always opened for Morisi. He just needed to find a place where he could train a lot and successfully. Morisi is a skater of such a class that he does not need to quickly learn something new in the middle of the season. He needs to work hard in a highly competitive group – and there is plenty of it in our academy.
Anastasia Gubanova: “I like a lot of skaters, I like someone’s skating, someone’s jumps. But I cannot help but note that Elizaveta Tuktamysheva is a great inspiration to all of us.”
