Ilia Averbukh: In the Olympic season I’ll work only with Medvedeva

The miracle did not happen and Ilia Averbukh remains Evgenia Medvedeva‘s choreographer for the next season. According to Ilia he is going to focus exclusively on working with Evgenia:

We’ll continue cooperation with Zhenya in the Olympic season and I’ll focus on working only with her. I have no goal to do as many programs as possible because exclusivity will be lost. Therefore I refuse of all other offers.

I can’t say that we have an absolutely clear understanding of Zhenya’s future programs, but there are experience, some tricks up our sleeve, trends. Choosing an artistic image we will follow Zhenya’s internal state, as it was this season. It’s very important to keep her individuality.

Evgenia is open to experiments. Today’s programs are a farewell to childhood, a reflection of her feelings, each of them is a readable story, after all, the choreography should tell the story. I hope, so it will be next year, the main thing is to find the core of the programs. – Averbukh said.

Averbukh is going to concentrate only on Medvedeva’s programs….only for me it sounds scary? Knowing his love to theatrial programs, telling the story, brinning drama and social problems…..I’m afraid he can really try his best to show it all in two programs……

Luckily her huge talent will once again overcome his ridiculous mime programs. Please NO MORE answering phones and jump roping! I can only dream of what she could do with mature choreography.

Great. So another TWO programs from him. Let me die now.

He seems so full of himself. Does he really think of himself as a choreography god???

Me: “THANK GOD! He’ll only ruin one skater’s programs this year!”

Evengia comes across as a junior. I prefer to watch older skaters.
