Alexandra Trusova about moving to the group of Svetlana Sokolovskaya.
Silver medalist of the 2022 Winter Olympics in figure skating, Alexandra Trusova, shared her thoughts on switching to coach Svetlana Sokolovskaya.
Before October 2022, Trusova trained in Eteri Tutberidze’s group.
“Svetlana Vladimirovna suggested that I think about it. Of course, doubts are always present. Especially as I get older, the more doubts there are.
I thought about it for quite a while now. The idea didn’t go away, so I decided to go ahead with it,” Trusova said in the documentary film “One on One” on the PREMIER website.
“There’s a special atmosphere here, it’s like a family. I haven’t experienced anything like this before, where all the athletes support each other. It’s unusual,” the figure skater noted.
Coach Svetlana Sokolovskaya explained Alexandra Trusova’s move to her group.
“I understood that she would leave. It turned out that she formed such a friendship with Mark (Kondratyuk). Everyone thinks, ‘She didn’t come just to her, did she? She came to Mark.’ To Mark. That’s normal. She was searching for herself.
If Mark had been training with Alexei Nikolaevich (Mishin), she would have gone there. That’s how it worked out for them. What, she dreamed of training in Sokolovskaya’sgroup? Well, that’s funny, isn’t it?
If Mark wasn’t a part of her life, she wouldn’t have taken this step. She had a reason to leave to work with Zhenya (Plushenko) and then coming back to Tutberidze. She’s searching for something,” Sokolovskaya said in the documentary film “One on One” on the PREMIER website.
