Daniil Gleikhengauz: “Alena Kostornaia got her long-awaited blues”
Daniil Gleikhengauz about short programs for Alena Kstornaia, Daria Usacheva and Maia Khromykh for the Olympic season.
Short program: I Am The One by Beth Hart
Free program: Vivaldi Four Season
Daniil Gleikhengauz: Alena got her long-awaited blues in the short program. From the very first notes, I wanted her to play with the audience and with the judges, using sights and choreography – she knows how to do that.
I think we have a very cool musical step sequence. She feels it, she wanted it, she skates it with enthusiasm. If she does it the way she sometimes already shows it in training, then this is just wow, in her performance it is very cool, it suits her very much.
Maya came and said, “I don’t have to change the program.” We are like: “Maia, well, we agree with the short one, but the free one needs to be changed.”
Usacheva‘s short program – soundtrack to the film “The Greatest Showman”. This is one hundred percent about Dasha, she completely dissolves in this music. She herself was delighted with this song, she really liked it. It was clear that she just need to skate clean and it will be what you need. It is a powerful program with beautiful lines, movements and a strong ending.
