Betina Popova: “We often hear comments from Alexander Zhulin about excess weight, and it sounds strange. Trusova grows, matures, there is a hormonal reorganization of the body, which happens to any girl.”
Betina Popova also spoke about criticism of Alexandra Trusova, who took third place at the Russian Grand Prix in Sochi.
Betina Popova: All the commentators who started all this funerals, they say, everything is clear, they are somehow inadequate. Who was it?
Let us recall the words of Alexander Zhulin about her excess weight. First, why is it excess? If at that age she jumps quadruple lutz in training. She grows, matures, this is not fat, there is a hormonal reorganization of the body, which happens to any girl. Such things happen not only in figure skating!
We often hear such comments from Alexander Zhulin, and sometimes it sounds strange. It’s a shock to me to hear comments about Hawatyek that she needs to lose weight, but no one knows her story. Maybe she had an eating disorder.
I know for sure that she does not eat at McDonald’s all the day. She has a nutritionist, physical training coach. Talking about the carelessness of an athlete is disrespect. The same is true for Sasha Trusova. And for any girl.
I didn’t see any weight problem for Trusova. Moreover, compared to the off-season, she lost weight. Now she is in better shape relative to the test skates of the national team.

Betina, thumbs up.
Thank you, Betina, for being brave and direct. It’s never easy to challenge such ‘experts’ as Zhulin. Disappointing that medals (piece of metal) have higher value than kid’s health.
