Olympic champion Anna Shcherbakova will undergo surgery due to a knee injury.
Anna Shcherbakova: Professional sport is the maximum dedication. Unfortunately, an old knee injury prevents me from training at full strength.
I have a surgery in a few days. But I’m sure everything will be fine.
Anna Shcherbakova will have a surgery in Germany.
This was announced by the Director General of the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKR) Alexander Kogan. Now Shcherbakova cannot return to full-fledged training due to a knee injury.
Alexander Kogan: Indeed, Anya will have surgery, tomorrow she flies to Germany, they send her to a clinic, whose specialists have already helped Russian skaters many times. We hope for her speedy recovery.
The injury bothered her for a long time, but while she was preparing for the Olympic Games, it was not possible to heal it completely.
They hoped that she would rest in the summer, she underwent special procedures, she flew abroad for this, but there was little chance that it would help without surgery.
