Alena Kostornaia: It’s not that I don’t need (an Olympic medal)… No, of course, it would be a nice bonus if I got one. But I won’t say that my whole life is the Olympics, and it will end if I don’t win it. If I just get there – that’s already cool, super.
For me, the most important thing is the emotions that I experience. It’s better to live your life in a cool and fun way than to spend your whole life trembling over that medal: ‘Well, I won it 40 years ago!’ – and here I am sitting around dirt, drama, in some small apartment, I don’t even know where. Let’s say hypothetically: I became fixated on that medal and I haven’t seen anything else since.
No, I want my life to be filled with bright colors, some cool moments, and communication. Rather than having just that one single award.
