Alena Kostornaia: I’m not happy with my performance, nothing good. It not just something didn’t work, but almost all of the elements were very dubious.
And if yesterday I enjoyed the performance, now I just skated, trying to collect the elements, not showing the program and not getting any pleasure. But I am still grateful to the audience for their support.
What, in your opinion, is the problem with the triple axel?
Alena Kostornaia: I’m just not confident enough in this jump yet. It so happens that you train it and still it does not work out, and it happens that you do not train it much – and, accordingly, you also fail to do it.
Alena Kostornaia: No, the same as any other.
Does it work out in training?
Alena Kostornaia: With the same success as in the competitions.
You almost don’t time to rest in your free program, very fast music, no slow part. How are you coping?
Alena Kostornaia: I asked the coaches to make the step sequence to the slower part, and they agreed. Well, in general, this is a free program program, here you just need to work on physics.
Also at the press conference, answering the question “What they will do right after the Finlandia Trophy?” Alena said:
“First of all, I’ll rush to the gym for training, on the treadmill – I need to work on endurance. Now it’s not enough for clean skating. Eteri Georgievna Tutberidze clearly said: 40 minutes, no less.
Of course, there will be a lot of ice training too, we will prepare programs for the Canadian Grand Prix. Well, and axel, of course.
