How is the trial period is going, is everything okay?
Alena Kostornaia: Yes, everything is fine.
Does it turn out to get in shape?
Alena Kostornaia: In general, yes. Since I was a substitute for the World Championships, I had to skate the programs.
As a short program I skated “Vivaldi”, as a free, after all, “Twilight”. It was quite good, there were clean solid run-throughs, almost flawless. Maybe there were some small mistakes, but, in general, I was already close to the shape in which I was after the skates after a couple of months of last season.
What are the emotions from the performance?
Alena Kostornaia: I’m glad that I was able to do what I had in mind. Of course, this is a show version, but still I’m glad that I improved a little bit compared to the previous show in terms of choreography and program integrity. I’m glad that I was able to get the crowd going.
Tell us about the program (to Lovely by Billie Eilish – ed).
Alena Kostornaia: The idea of this program is almost similar to what happens in the video: I am in a glass cube, where everything suits me, there is full climate control, snow is falling, rain is falling, some waterfalls – I don’t remember the video clip exactly. I don’t want to go out of there, but at the end of the program I have to break this cube and go out to people.
In some sense, it’s about getting out of your comfort zone?
Alena Kostornaia: Yes.
Can we say that this is about this season for you? Have you ever got out of your comfort zone?
Alena Kostornaia: Quite the contrary, with the transition to “Chrustalny” I got to the comfort zone.
Can we say that you came home?
Alena Kostornaia: We can.
How do you feel when you got into this team again?
Alena Kostornaia: I feel it’s where I should be.

Alena Kostornaia: Sergei Viktorovich wasn’t there (the jumping coach of the Tutberidze group Sergei Dudakov – ed), I still don’t dare to try it without harness. After the jumps, there have already been microtraumas, I would not want to fly out of the training process. I will do everything that depends on me.

I hope she is genuine in what she says, not because of political need – after all, the trial period ends in May and the 3A, which is one of the two conditions to pass the trial period, is yet to be jumped.
