Aleksandr Galliamov appealed to the head of the IOC with a question about Olympic medals.

At the 2022 Olympics in Beijing, Galliamov, competing in pairs with Anastasia Mishina, won gold in the team event as part of the Russian team, but the medals were not awarded due to the start of an anti-doping investigation into Kamila Valieva.

In January 2024, Valieva was disqualified, and her results at the Games were annulled. Russia was stripped of the gold in the team event and dropped to third place.

Here’s a translation of what Aleksandr Galliamov has recently posted on his channel in Telegram.

“Dear Mr. Thomas Bach! Unfortunately, I am not very strong in languages (I am really ashamed, as over the past 4 months, I have received a bunch of offers for cooperation in English), so I would like to ask for an explanation.

Please tell me, what does the idiomatic expression ‘An Olympic medal is forever’ mean? Thank you very much.”

The text says ‘an Olympic medal’. Doesn’t say specifically which one. If the current status quo holds, and neither the Russian nor the Canadian appeal leads anywhere, he’ll have a shiny bronze medal. Forever.
Guy really thought he was being clever there..
