The world record of American figure skaters Madison Chock and Evan Bates in rhythm dance is important even in the absence of leading Russian pairs, said Tatiana Tarasova.

Chock and Bates scored 93.91 points from the judges at the World Team Trophy in Tokyo. The Americans surpassed the achievement of the French pair Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron, who scored 92.73 points at the 2022 World Championships in Montpellier.

“The record of Chock and Bates is significant even in the absence of our leading pairs. This is the best score, they received the highest marks. It’s very nice that they achieved this. The level of competition in ice dance is not decreasing without Russian athletes. This is a well-known pair, the first pair of the United States,” said Tarasova.
