Evgenia Medvedeva: I continue to skate and jump, but there are no plans to compete. I please the audience in a different way: I perform in shows and give master classes, so fans have many opportunities to see me on the ice.
According to the athlete, she does not regret that she no longer competes.
Evgenia Medvedeva: To regret something is generally the worst thing. Thank God, in my sports career, I did not have to do this. I could continue to compete. If I wanted to, but I’ve been more than successful with it. I managed to perform where necessary and didn’t perform where it was not necessary.
In one of the interviews, you said that you spend a lot of money on purchases. What was the biggest expense in your life?
Evgenia Medvedeva: The house where my whole family moved in. We continue to live there and enjoy life.
Tell us about your most ridiculous purchase.
Evgenia Medvedeva: Balmain dress. Firstly, I don’t fit into it, and secondly, it’s like … I won’t say how much it cost. I wore it once, so it was very stupid.
What is going on in your personal life?
Evgenia Medvedeva: The answer is short—in my personal life, there is a personal life. I do not like to talk about such topics.
Who is your dream man?
Evgenia Medvedeva: Interesting question. I guess every girl has her own ideal man. If we talk about the visual, then I have different images and ideas in my head.
I can imagine different types of men next to me, but in general, the man of my dreams, as you say, should be reliable, honest, with a very strong shoulder, loyal, and with a good sense of humor.
Let’s talk about the upcoming holiday. What New Year’s dish are you preparing for the festive table?
Evgenia Medvedeva: We don’t have any special dishes for New Year. We make several salads, including Olivier, which we don’t eat at all during the year, but of course we cook it on New Year’s Eve.
We have quite a traditional table. Nothing special, so unfortunately, I can’t share something new or exclusive with you.
How will you celebrate the New Year?
Evgenia Medvedeva: I will work on holidays. On December 29 and 30, the premiere of Ilia Averbukh’s New Year’s ice show “The Wizard of Oz” will take place.
Then, from January 2 to 7, I will take part in this performance every day. I really like the Dorothy character that I play. Cheerful, to some extent a brave girl who knows how to make friends. That is what we should learn from her.
I would like to show her character on the ice. “The Wizard of Oz” is a fascinating fairy tale with interesting Dorothy adventures, and in our case, it is also a vivid performance for children to learn friendship and perseverance in overcoming some difficult life situations.
What unusual gifts did you get?
Evgenia Medvedeva: There were a lot of “unusual” gifts in my life. It’s hard to single out anything special. I have quite a large fan base of my fans and figure skating enthusiasts who have been supporting me for a long time.
They always strive to do something pleasant, interesting, and unusual for me … Therefore, I received a lot of unusual gifts, and I can’t single out anything specific. But you know, it seems to me that the most unusual gift is still to come.

I would like to wish you a lot of love in the new year because I am often asked what the meaning of life is, and I think that there is no answer to this question. Indeed, the answer is different for everyone, but I have one and only one: love.
Love should be everywhere—for your work, for animals, for family, for figure skating, for sweets. Love is everywhere. If we do not live and surround ourselves with this feeling, life is wasted, so love and be loved.
