“The date of the hearing on the “Valiyeva case” has not been set yet (although a week has passed since the announced completion of the RUSADA investigation on September 14) – because – drum roll !!! – it is not possible to coordinate the presence at the hearings of at least three members of the DAC (Disciplinary Anti-Doping Committee – ed) RUSADA.
This is the minimum required quota for holding hearings (any hearings) in DAC RUSADA.
There are eight members of DAC RUSADA. And in February, during the 2022 Olympics, when it became known about the positive test of Kamila Valieva at the pre-Olympic Russian Nationals and her temporary suspension imposed by RUSADA, they acted promptly. Within 24 hours they gathered experts, held a meeting and lifted the temporary suspension. According to sources, they were present almost in full force, they voted unanimously.
The reason for the current behavior of DAC RUSADA members as a human being is more than understandable.
According to our sources, based on the results of the investigation, RUSADA has collected quite convincing evidence confirming the violation of anti-doping rules by Valieva (someone even speaks of “aggravating circumstances”, which can increase the period of standard disqualification).
Therefore, no matter what decision the members of DAC RUSADA make in the end, they will be the one to blame. If they make the punishment (disqualification followed by deprivation of gold in the team event) they will be subjected to the most severe obstruction.
If they cleared her, at the request of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), the International Olympic Committee (IOC) or the International Skating Union (ISU), the case will go to the jurisdiction of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), where it will most likely be reviewed.”
