Russian figure skaters representing Georgia arrived in Bergamo, Italy to prepare for the World Championships.

Earlier, the International Skating Union (ISU), against the backdrop of events in Ukraine, banned athletes from Russia and Belarus from competitions under its auspices.

According to RIA Novosti, Anastasia Gubanova, who lives in St. Petersburg, and Morisi Kvitelashvili from Moscow have started trainings on the ice arena of the Bergamo sports club. Both skaters have previously competed for Russia. Gubanova representing Georgia since 2021 and Kvitelashvili since 2016.

  1. Interesting perspective on the Russians finding a way to compete at worlds. I watched these skaters this past weekend and it was interesting to compare them to the typical Russians they send to Worlds.
