“We just understood that most likely they would not take us for the team event. We didn’t get sick. We decided to prepare at home, to fly right before our individual competitions.
We were in Novogorsk, trained, prepared. Thank you so much, we are very pleased that everyone was waiting for us so much.

Alexandra Stepanova: We imagined it, but our ideas somehow fade into the background. But everything is great here, everything is joyful for us, and today we are very satisfied. Ivan Bukin: I’m just delighted with the Olympic Games – the village, the ice rink, the atmosphere, people walk around, they change badges. The mood is wonderful.
We stepped on the ice, we were a little nervous, but even a little less than at other competitions, but we enjoyed it – the positive atmosphere charges.

I wish they had been part of the team event. USA came first anyway. Stepanova and Bukin could easily have been allowed to skate part of it without hurting team gold chances. Their twizzles was a bit slow in the rhythm dance last night and was much better at the Europeans, but still would be fine. I like that program. Actually I like both their programs more than Sinistina and Katsalapov’s this season.
Overall it doesn’t make sense to me why they weren’t allowed to skate in the team event if they weren’t sick and also giving stress to Nikita’s injury. Oh well, now who knows what happens with the team medal.
