Alexandra Stepanova / Ivan Bukin and Ksenia Stolbova / Fedor Klimov are not going to the training camp of Russian Olympic team in Japan.

Their coaches gave some comments:

The situation with Vanya’s suspension from participation in the Olympic Games was a shock for us. We could not even imagine that something like this could happen. It is clear that the guys who have been preparing for this Olympiad all their lives, and we refused to believe it. Therefore, it was decided that Sasha and Vanya should go to the training camp in Japan, because we thought that it would be psychologically easier for them to be together with other skaters of our team. – Irina Zhuck said

But, weighed all the pros and cons, consulted with Sasha and Ivan we decided that this should not be done because of the time difference, time zones. Stepanova and Bukin will not fly to Japan, we will prepare for the World Championships. If the International Olympic Committee changes its decision and allows Ivan to participate in the Olympics, we will immediately fly to Pyeongchang before the competition of ice dancers. – told Alexander Svinin.

Ksenia and Fedor refused to participate in the pre-Olympic training camp in Japan. First, they need to recover, psychologically they are in bad condition. Secondly, they decided not to disturb the guys who are preparing for the Olympics. They will recover and will start the preparation for the World Championships. – Nina Mozer said.

The report seemed to have detailed that one female figure skater’s urine sample was tampered, and The Skating Lesson deduced that the female skater is Stolbova. Therefore, I can understand why she was not approved to compete in Peyongchang.

Which report? And why any offical statements are not known? It does not sound right to me that her innocence or guilt were not proved and she was not invited to the OG. As I’ve heard she has never failed a doping test.

I remember that and some Italian newspaper wrote about that. But then turned out that the report was about someone else, not from figure skating and not from Sochi Olympics. So the newspaper had to apologize to the Russian skating federation.

I have been reading your posts regularly, but this my first time leaving a comment. I am just in shock that the IOC left out Ksenia and Ivan, and no one knows why. If the IOC is going to crush the dreams of these athletes, take away the years of hard work, and effort, and sacrifice these athletes put to get to the Olympics, the IOC should at least explain why such a decision was taken. I agree that those who failed a doping test should not be allowed to compete, but as far as I know, Ksenia and Ivan never failed a doping test. Without any explanation, this decision seems so arbitrary.

Maybe I don’t understand the situation but why can’t they go to the OG?

    • Themainfan says:

It’s a total mystery! As was said: no one should question THEIR integrity

    • FS Gossips says:

Because of the Russian dope scandal, Russian athletes won’t compete under Russian flag and IOC has the right to invite only those athletes who are absolutely clear, but they don’t tell what is wrong with Ksenia and Ivan(
