A little over a month after her debut at the Winter Olympics, Nina Pinzarrone (19) is preparing for the World Figure Skating Championships, the final event of her season. Here’s a translation of her comments posted on Sporza.

“I was able to enjoy the Olympics and didn’t think too much about the results or what could go wrong,” she explains. “That’s the feeling I want to have again.”

“I don’t want to put too much pressure on myself. I remind myself how hard I’ve worked and that not everyone gets to be here at Worlds.”

“I look back on the Olympics very positively. It was just so special and unique. I hope to experience it again.”

She has now switched gears. There’s no sign of post-Olympic letdown for Pinzarrone, as she’s “excited for Worlds.”

“I’m really looking forward to showing again what I was able to do at the Olympics. This World Championships is, in a different way, just as important as the Olympics.”

“I would say I’m even better prepared now,” she says. “Before the Olympics, everything was tight. I was ready, but not with a margin of a few weeks.”

“Now I’ve been at my peak for two weeks. I expect and hope that things will go well. Am I more ready for Worlds than for the Olympics? Yes. What my training reflects is better than before the Olympics.”

In terms of the field, this World Championships is not much less competitive than the Olympics. “Some withdrawals were expected, but there are only about three absentees, including Olympic champion Alysa Liu.”

Pinzarrone finished 7th last year. “I definitely want to match or improve on that result, but the most important thing is to do my best and improve my own records.”

“If you’re happy with your performance, the points and placement will follow. I’ve grown as a person. I’ve had fewer training hours, but I’ve become mentally stronger.”
