On February 24th, the Japanese Olympic team, which won a record 24 medals at the Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics, returned to Japan. A press conference was held in Tokyo, attended by 15 medalists. Here’s a translation of his comments posted on Nikkansports.

Yuma Kagiyama, who earned consecutive silver medals in men’s figure skating and the team event, said, “In the team event, everyone performed at their best and I’m happy we won a medal. In the individual event, the medal brought both joy and frustration. The Olympics are a special stage – a dream stage. Every moment was a time for growth,” he reflected.

Regarding the next four years, he stated, “Now that these four years are finally over, I haven’t thought about it at all.” Looking ahead, he added, “From here, I want to explore my potential as a skater, take a broader view of skating, and try various things. I want to choreograph my own programs and attempt new skills. I want this to be a time to discover a new version of myself,” hinting at unusual new challenges.
