Russian pair skater Dmitrii Kozlovskii expresses his frustration over the suspension of Russian athletes, stating that it cost him and his partner four of their best competitive years, and shares that winning Olympic gold has lost its meaning for him due to recent events. Here’s a translation of his comments.

“In general, what’s happening is an absolutely terrible absurdity. There were no objective reasons for our suspension, for the suspension of athletes. International organizations took advantage of a specific situation and turned it to their own benefit.

Four years were brazenly stolen from us. Four years of the best part of my and Sasha’s sports careers. The period between the ages of 22 and 26 was, and still is, my personal peak. That’s when we had built a certain foundation, achieved a certain quality of elements, level of skating, age, and a kind of existential maturity.

This was taken from us in an absolutely unfair, criminal way. And everyone just clapped their hands and pretended not to notice, as if it were some kind of stupid joke.

That’s why, right now, I personally don’t live with any expectations. I have no trust in any news, promises, or rumors from the people involved in these matters. Because those responsible for our exclusion have already done something that led to the loss of my best four years, both for me and Sasha.

They’ve already been stolen from me, and I won’t get them back. So now I try to find things in sport that excite, interest, and motivate me. But to live for some mythical future? At this point, it’s meaningless,” Kozlovskii said in an interview with Okko.

Kozlovskii admitted that Olympic gold has lost its value for him.

“To be an Olympic champion and to have that as the main goal of your life – that’s in the past for me. Athletes, especially the girls who won the last Olympics, used to say that winning the Olympic Games was the dream of their lives. Now, my dreams are different.

To say that winning Olympic gold is a goal – yes, it’s still a goal, in some sense. But it’s definitely no longer a dream. For me, because of everything that has happened over the past four years, the significance of the Olympic gold medal in my sport has been greatly diminished. It no longer holds the same importance for me as it did, for example, back in 2022,” Kozlovskii said on Okko.

His words are absolutely disgusting! And I think he just sealed it for himself – he will never be welcomed back on the international ice. Just look at everything his country has taken and is still taking from Ukrainians. This does not seem to bother him at all…. Those people are totally sickening!

He might want to take that up with the higher ups in his government that made the decision to break the Olympic truce, which was why there was a ban to begin with…
