Adeliia Petrosian discusses keeping up with international competitors and shares her aspirations to reintegrate the triple Axel into her programs after recovering from an injury. Here’s a translation of her comments.
“Q: Are you keeping track of your rivals in the Grand Prix series?
Adeliia Petrosian: Yes, I do follow my competitors. I watch how they develop their programs, improve, and add complexity. It motivates me not to fall behind and to strive for improvement, and I will continue working on that.
For the past four seasons, I’ve definitely been following Kaori Sakamoto. I really admire her powerful skating and how she uses the entire rink. Recently, Ami Nakai performed with triple axels, and I was captivated by how effortless her jumps looked. At the Cup of China, I watched Amber Glenn and Alysa Liu perform, and I really enjoyed their skating. So yes, I watch them whenever I can.
Q: They’re doing triple axels. Do you have plans to bring the triple axel back into your programs?
Adeliia Petrosian: Yes, of course, I do. I had already started working on the triple axel before this Grand Prix. I hope I’ll be able to restore it soon.
Q: You’ve landed successful triple axels in training, haven’t you?
Adeliia Petrosian: Before my injury, I had been working on bringing it back. After the injury, though, it hasn’t quite come together yet, but it’s really close. At least it was before – I’m not sure how it is now, haha.”
