The figure skating ice show Prince Ice World opened in Yokohama. Kazuki Tomono performed his new short program for the 2025-2026 season to That’s It (I’m Crazy). Here’s a translation of his comments.
Kazuki expressed his vision for the program: “I wanted to create something where I could stand out the most among Japanese skaters with this SP.” The program incorporates a one-handed cartwheel, leading Tomono to note, “While there’s a slightly scary part, it’s a program packed with every move I’m capable of doing.” Acknowledging the physical toll of the intense movements and acknowledging that the piece is still a work in progress, he added, “It’s filled with the kind of charm that only I can bring, and it’s balanced to connect both technical score and artistry. I’ve been given an incredible program, and I want to make it my signature piece. I’ll skate with my whole heart.”
For the second consecutive season, his SP was choreographed by the world-renowned Shae-Lynn Bourne. According to Tomono, Bourne had asked, “Can you do a cartwheel?” He admitted, “Honestly, at first I couldn’t do it at all, and even now my legs don’t quite fully extend. Toward the second half of the routine, fatigue really impacts my legs, and there are parts I find a bit frightening. But this program is packed with every move I am capable of doing.”
He shared that this new performance enhances his expressive ability by adding unique accents, stating, “The acrobatic elements make it even more appealing. I want to keep improving and perform even more beautifully throughout the show.”
