Chaeyeon Kim about winning 2025 Four Continents Championships. Here’s a translation of her comments posted on MFocus.

In the press conference after the event, Chaeyeon Kim shared, “I was thrilled to compete in a major event in front of the home crowd, but I was very nervous because I wanted to perform well. Still, I’m truly happy to have surpassed my personal best and won the gold medal.”

“There were shaky moments in my spins, and my jumps were not as high-quality as during practice. I think it was due to nerves, and I realize I need more practice to enhance the quality of my performance in future competitions,” she reflected on her performance.

Having won both the Asian Games last week and this Four Continents Championship, Kim observed, “These two competitions taught me how to manage my nerves and focus on what needs to be done. I believe this experience will boost my confidence and motivate me to perform even better at the World Championships.” Asked about the significance of these competitions in her career, she commented, “This competition made me feel that my hard work has been recognized. I think there is still much room for improvement, and this experience has motivated me to work even harder.”

Regarding her mindset during her performance, she expressed, “I tried to trust myself. Sometimes I fear falling on the next jump, but lately, I’ve been reminding myself, ‘I can do it, just like I practiced,’ and focus on that.”

When asked why she appeared calm in the kiss and cry area after the competition, Kim revealed, “I had a cramp in my left calf during the latter part of my performance, which was quite painful. I was happy, but it may not have shown on my face. Nevertheless, I was truly happy.”

“I was so happy to compete in the dress my mom made, and it was special to say, ‘This dress was made by my mom.’ The warm support from local fans and the immense encouragement from my parents powered me through, and I believe their continued support will help me perform diligently in upcoming competitions,” she told.

She also mentioned her plans for preparing for the World Championships: “I plan to focus on recovery for a day or two, then based on the insights from this competition, I will undertake additional training.”
