At the 2025 Four Continents Championships Kao Miura (26) placed fifth in the short program with a score of 78.80 points. Here’s a translation of his comments posted on Nikkansports.

He has been bothered by pain in his left thigh this season and resumed training a week ago, including quadruple salchow and triple flip – triple loop combinations. He has been training at a rapid pace, but he places the results of this competitions second to himself. “I haven’t been able to enjoy competing at all this season. I can finally enjoy competing.”

“If I had scored around 78 points, I would have remained in the final group, and keeping that rank would have earned me significant points, so that’s what I was aiming for,” Miura told, reflecting on his performance. “I suppose I’m satisfied. In terms of performance, I had not had a single full run-through of the program in practice so I kind of expected it to go this way (laughs). There was a feeling like that. There were stumbles in the spins and various issues, but I think it was good that I managed to minimize them.”

“I am enjoying competing now more than ever. I seriously think there won’t be another time like this. I really want to enter the off-season soon, stop jumping for a bit and first focus on regaining my strength. Also, many people have been saying that my legs have gotten thinner, so I want to get them back to normal.”

“I am truly starting to remember the joy of skating, especially today with the fall on the loop. Things happening that wouldn’t normally happen in practice — I think that’s typical of skating competitions. It represents skating, I suppose. And simply put, the way I fell was a bit embarrassing (laughs). I couldn’t stop laughing the moment I fell. It was like, “That’s embarrassing,” and it felt exactly as I had expected (laughs).”
