Adelia Petrosian shared her reaction to the admission of Russian skaters to qualify for the 2026 Olympic Games. The International Skating Union (ISU) has permitted Russian figure skaters to participate in the Olympic qualification competitions under an individual neutral status. The competition will take place in September in Beijing. Russian athletes will be able to secure only one spot per discipline.

“It was a whole range of emotions. It’s hard to describe. Anxiety, joy, hope. This is practically my last chance to go to the Olympics, I am realistically assessing everything.

This situation, which has been dragging on for several years, is harsh. But now there is a small chance to finally get out of it.

All my thoughts are now on international competitions because there is a new hope. Along with this, I feel the fear that I might end up with only Russian titles.

Suddenly, my form might fade, or I simply might not have the opportunity to compete at an international level. That means, in the international history of the sport, I would be nobody. As if I never existed,” said the two-time Russian national champion.

  1. It’s unfair for the athletes to miss such opportunities! I am with her, wish her the best!
