Rinka Watanabe commented on her attitude for the upcoming season and her new programs. Here’s a translation of her comments.
At the Japanese team press conference held on the 30th in Tokyo for the opening of the 2024-25 figure skating season, Rinka Watanabe (22) presented her this season’s theme as “The Beauty of Solitude.”
Aligning this theme with this season’s Short Program, “Moonlight”, she said, “I think the sun shines equally on everyone, but the moonlight seems to illuminate each person like a spotlight. When I contemplated continuing my life in skating, I realized the necessity to confront oneself within the moonlight.”
She added, “This season is a pre-Olympic one, but I intend not to focus too much on that; instead, I want to persist in doing what I desire and must do. I aim to continuously build up performances that I can be satisfied with.”
In her third season participating in the Grand Prix series, she is scheduled to compete in the first competition at Skate America (October 18-20) and the sixth competition in China (November 22-24). “By focusing on my own skating, I want to move forward one step at a time.”
