Kaori Sakamoto commented on her attitude and goals for the upcoming season. Here’s a translation of her comment.

At the Japanese team press conference held on the 30th in Tokyo for the opening of the 2024-25 figure skating season, three-time world champion Kaori Sakamoto set “CHANGE” as her theme for this season. She has a new jump content for her free program and also new hair style.

Heading into the pre-Olympic season with an attacking mindset, she stated, “It’s one year before the Olympics, but if we try it out and it goes well, it will give us more options to choose from as we get closer to the Olympic season. There’s no harm in trying. If I go forward without fearing failure, I think that can become a great source of confidence.”

During the Paris Olympics in August, she participated in the long-delayed medal ceremony for the 2022 Beijing Olympics. After finally receiving her team silver medal two and a half years after the competition, she expressed, “The moment I received it, my desire to win another medal in Milan grew stronger. Afterwards, during a training camp in Milan, I had a conversation with (the pair) Rikuryu (Miura, Kiara team) and (Yuma) Kagiyama, and we talked about how great it would be to win medals together again. I definitely aim to achieve that.”
