“Q: Do you follow international competitions?
Georgi Kunitsa: We do. This season, there has only been one so far. We follow the Russian guys who skate for other countries. They are our favorites.
Alena Kostornaia: We were just watching Lombardy. I can’t say anything about the men; I saw only the women.
Q: What do you think about the Canadians?
Georgi Kunitsa: They are doing great, continuing to skate at their not-so-young age. That’s deserving of respect and admiration.
Alena Kostornaia: Everyone is doing great.
Q: Are you ready to skate until 40 as well?
Alena Kostornaia: Why not? We are ready to skate until our health allows, and we will do everything for it.”
Kostornaia also stated that she and Kunica are “at a crossroads.” Alena Kostornaia and Georgy Kunica compete in pairs skating. Today, they presented their new free program “The Master and Margarita.”
“Alena Kostornaia: Not everything went well; after the short program, there was an unpleasant feeling left. We know our weaknesses and will work on them going forward.
We have specific plans, and it’s hard to say what will happen next; we are at a crossroads. There are aspects that need to be worked on before going into competitive ice; we wouldn’t want to go out half-ready.
When entering competitions, it’s important to perform in such a way that even with a strong desire to find faults, there are no possibility to do this.”
