Alexanda Trusova (20), intends to perform at the Russian national team test skates, which will take place on September 14-15 in Saint Petersburg. Evgenia Plushenko commented on the news.
“I did not direct her anywhere; it must be the athlete’s own decision. She said she had thought and decided on whom to train with. She decided to come to me because I had retired from the sport, had surgeries, and know how to make a comeback.
We began training, and she said that if she could land a quadruple jump, she would like to skate at the test skates. Sasha performed the quadruple Lutz, and the Russian Figure Skating Federation informed us that they were not opposed.
We are training, preparing. We are not talking about a return to sports; she has already made a serious decision, she now needs to overcome herself, train every day, which is extremely difficult, but she has already made a significant step,” Plushenko said.

We have seen a lot of impressive things from Trusova, but to make a true comeback, she must be willing to set aside most all of her personal life, including family. This is not a part time sport, and plus, as she is older for most Russian single figure skaters, she must make serious decisions going forward, including continuance of her career as a figure skater. She must also pick one coach and stick to them, no switching as we saw later back between Tutberidze and Plushenko, since each approaches the sport differently and thereby would disrupt her progress. I wish her the best and the all the luck!!
O…M…G… If I ever wish for anyone’s return, it’s Sasha and noone else. She changed the history. The history charged her dear. Today is her happy wedding. Wishing her all the happiness of the world, I can’t wait to see the Russian Rocket back on the stage.
