The International Olympic Committee (IOC) will be able to decide on the awarding of medals for the team figure skating event at the 2022 Olympics only after considering appeals from all parties.

On February 26, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) registered four appeals against the decision of the International Skating Union (ISU) to redistribute the medals of the team figure skating event at the Olympics in Beijing.

“The ranking of the team figure skating event at the Winter Olympics in Beijing has been updated following the ISU’s decision to disqualify results obtained by Kamila Valieva.

Currently, the decision is being challenged, once again putting athletes and the IOC in a difficult position. We hope that the cases will be resolved quickly, and the ISU will be able to determine the final ranking. Only after this step can the IOC decide on the medal distribution.

We express our sincere sympathy to the athletes who have been waiting for the final results of their competitions for two years. We call on all parties involved in the legal proceedings to seek speedy resolutions in the CAS,” the IOC said.”

It is completely unfair and irresponsible that the athletes who legitimately won medals have received them yet. The ISU and the IOC should be ashamed for letting this dragon so long. I also agree that a team who had a cheating athlete should be disqualified. This is ridiculous and a nlot on the sport of figure skating and on the ISU and the ISU.

  2. Teri Belyea says:

Disqualify the Russian team and give the gold to the USA, Silver to Japan, and bronze to Canada.
    Why allow cheating to thrive?

  3. The awarding of medal to a disqualified team defies imagination and is unacceptable.

  4. RANIA says:

Russia should be ashamed but more so the ISU and IOC that has allowed their cheating to go on with impunity for decades and decades. Countries who create their own drug programs and super labs to tamper with drug samples should not be allowed to compete and they especially should not be allowed to challenge decisions made by Sports bodies they have lost the right
