Gubanova is a former Russian figure skater, now she represent Georgia and she’s reigning European champion. On January 9, the International Skating Union (ISU) posted about champions in all disciplines, excluding Gubanova.
Anastasiia Gubanova takes 3 place after the short program at the 2024 European Championships in Kaunas.

“I am 100% satisfied with myself today. I managed to enjoy skating, and at the European Championships, it’s not easy. It’s nice to understand that I did everything I could today, and there are no regrets. I was very calm before the performance, din’t feel any pressure, that I won last year. A new day – a new start.
Did the incident with the mistake on ISU’s social media affect me? It was unpleasant, to be honest. It’s disappointing that I was treated like that – it turns out, devaluing my work. And there’s a whole team working on my result. In general, it didn’t turn out very nicely, but I can’t say that it threw me off in any way. I tried not to pay special attention to it and move on. It’s over.
I like everything in this program – the music, and the costume. I step onto the ice and feel that today I am the most beautiful – and for a girl, this is very important, haha. I relate to such an image, I feel confident in such an image on the ice because I am a bit coquettish in real life,” Gubanova said.
