In the summer of 2019, Medvedeva received an anonymous letter stating that “all Japanese fans hate” her.
“This note was not related to figure skating. It was related to the personal relationships of one of the athletes towards me. They didn’t want to see me not in figure skating but next to him. His fans. It’s personal, not sports. At that time, everyone didn’t care about sports – whether I’m in sports or not,” said Medvedeva in an interview with Okko Sport.
