Russian ice dancer David Narizny shared that he’s following other disciplines and shared his opinion on men’s single skating in an interview with Championat.

“I watched the Grand Prix stage in France, and, oh my, how nervous I was for Adam Sio Him Fa, I wanted him to surpass Ilia (Malinin). Adam skates beautifully; he’s musical and has impressive jumps.

Certainly, Ilia has amazing jumps; he executes them with incredible precision and utmost stability. He’s fantastic, and I don’t want to say anything negative about him, but I feel a connection to the way Adam skates.

I’ve skated the step sequence from his last year’s short program to pick up something for myself, and now I want to try his new step sequences. I see something internal feeling in his skating.

Ilia still skates like a junior; he lacks plasticity of movements, his body looks “wooden” – skating looks a bit childish. But when you watch Adam, you see that he understands what he’s doing. He has felt it from inside, and every move he makes he makes consciously.

It’s very enjoyable to watch him; I wished he won because I understand that this athlete is on a different level than Ilia. Not because he jumps better, but because he understands what he’s doing.

He doesn’t just perform elements; he showcases real men’s skatin. Every gesture is musical and meaningful. I don’t remember seeing something like this.

For me, Adam Siao Him Fa is much stronger and more interesting than someone like Yuzuru Hanyu, even though Yuzuru is the god of men’s singles skating.

Even Nathan Chen, whom I love very much, but in my opinion, Adam is better right now. I like how he feels on the ice – it’s amazing!” – the skater said.
