Belarusian figure skater Victoria Safonova comment regarding the suspension of Belarusian skaters from international competitions. Here’s translation of her comment.
“Are you expecting any positive decisions regarding the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes in international competitions?
Victoria Safonova: Whether I am expecting it or not, it’s not up to me. We will have to accept the decisions that are made. In any case, we are all working hard, striving to improve.
How will your season be scheduled, and where do you plan to compete?
Victoria Safonova: I have been given permission, just like last year, to skate out of competition at two stages of the Russian Grand Prix. I will also participate in Belarusian competitions, which are necessary for us, such as the Belarusian Championship. To qualify for the final, I will also need to participate in one more national cup.
Does your motivation wane without international competitions? What keeps you going in your career?
Victoria Safonova: Of course, I want to compete in international events. But, as I’ve already mentioned, we have no control over it, so my motivation comes from striving to improve every day and learn the quadruple loop.”
