Victoria Sinitsina and Nikita Katsalapov took part at the stage of Russian Cup. I think it was interesting to see them, to asses the progress since test skates in Sochi and to get a more thoughtful opinion about their dances.
Well, I afraid, that I’ll be in minority, because I really liked both their dances. Even more, I think they have the best and the most tasteful dances in Russian team (except Ilinykh and Zhiganshin, because we haven’t seen them at all). First of all, it’s dances, not strange, weird something to many music cuts, not acrobatics, but dances, when two people are actually dancing. Love it. I’m not a fan of their music in the short dance, but they sell it, and they feel it. Great choreography. Love this part when Nikita puts his hands into the pockets) And I need to say that Victoria improved a lot! Actually I caught myself thinking that most part of the dance I’m looking at her. I like her new dress, but I liked that one from the test skates more) And please, make another hair do, this one reminds me of Navka and Bobrova))
I think that Stepanova / Bukin’s free dance it’s a good step forward for them but those two dances just can’t be compared. Why? Because it’s just a different level. Stepanova / Bukin has a tango-program, when Sinitcina / Katsalapov has a tango-dance. For me that are completely different things……and a different level. Personally, I prefere the second variant. Why? Because we’re talking about ice DANCES and I want to see people dance on ice, not just showing some elements. I really appreciate what Victoria and Nikita are doing in their free dance, it’s an ambitious choice, very ambitious actually. Not everything is ready yet, but it looks a lot better that at the test skates in Sochi and they still have time before their Grand-prix. They need to work on the second part, at the moment it looks weaker. Loved the first part. Hope to see one more new lift soon and I’m excited about costumes)
