Sara Hurtado & Adria Diaz showed dances

2015-2016

Another ice dancing team from Marie-France Dubreuil and Patrice Lauzon group have showed their dances for the upcoming season. So, by now we haven’t seen and haven’t even know anything only about dances for the world champions Gabriella Papadakis & Guillaume Cizeron. But rumour has it that one of their dances can be blues.

Sara Hurtado & Adria Diaz maybe have never impressed me with their technique and skating skills but their dances always were interesting to watch. So, every year I expect something new and creative from this Spanish team.

Another team decided not to use classical waltz music for the short dance. Maybe for them it was a smart decision because they are not that type of skaters who will look great in huge and classical waltz. But unfortunately too many dancers decided to go in nonclassical direction. So, I like the concept of their dance it suits them. They also changed the twizzles (they got some problems last year with the level of twizzles), the lift look interesting. I also loved the costumes! It’s a brave move not to distract attention with the help of long skirt) The thing I don’t like it’s music, it sounds a bit boring.

I think the free dance in potential will look more interesting that the short. The shape is too far from good and with lots of mistake it’s difficult to judge the choreography. But I like that it’s just a dance, without huge libretto or characters to play, just music and dances. Their first grand-prix event is Trophee Eric Bompard (13-15 November), so they have time for improvement but from what I saw, I wouldn’t expect a lot( I also think that Sara needs a dress of a different cut, this one doesn’t suit her body type.

Alexandra Paul & Mitchell Islam who also are training now with Dubreuil and Lauzon recently took part in Nebelhorn Trophy. See whether they managed to create something interesting for this season.
