We’ve heard Eteri’s comment, now it’s time for Evgenia to made a statement.

Yes, now I will live and train in North America. As for the change of sports citizenship, it’s absolute nonsense. All the normal and sane people understand this perfectly well, that it does not concern me. I will live in Canada, I just have to change my place of residence for an indefinite period.

I want a long career, that’s why such changes are happening in my life. You just can’t imagine what a rise I’m feeling now, I’m more motivated than ever. I’m not afraid of moving to Canada and the language barrier, I won’t be uncomfortable there. I hope that my English will allow me to communicate normally. – Zhenya said

Evgenia also said the words of gratitude to her former coaches. Official comment for the site of Russian figure skating Federation.

Evgenia: First of all, I want to thank Eteri Georgievna Tutberidze and the entire coaching staff for a long, fruitful, sometimes very difficult work. For the great patience and incredible coaching, professional endurance. These people gave me life in figure skating and led to such high results that I can rightly be proud of.

Getting back to the topic of recent events, I want to clarify the situation. I will continue to represent the Russian Federation, staying in the school “Sambo-70”, but training with the Canadian specialist Brian Orser. I do this to use new opportunities and other methods of the training process and continue to represent Russia at the highest level.

As you know, after the Olympics on March 8 I flew to Germany for medical examination. And I was strongly advised to refrain from the loads and I had to miss two months of full-time training.

I want to wish the further development and prosperity to Eteri Georgievna’s group and once again say thank you for such a valuable 11 years of my life. I remember how I came to the group being a little girl. Yes, sometimes it was hard, but I was trained, educated, supported, when necessary motivated. I grew up in front of Eteri Georgievna. She made an invaluable contribution to my development not only as an athlete, but also as a person. I got many life lessons from her. I will remember them all my life. My childhood has passed at rink “Khrustalny”, I will remember the time of hard but fruitful work with gratitude.

Also, I wish all the children from the Eteri Georgievna group the greatest health, patience, diligence and sports longevity, because we all now know how tremendously fast our favorite sport are moving forward.

I hope that the time will pass and everyone will understand that this was the only possible option for both of us to continue to work honestly.

She’s a strong person. I’m happy for her in the sense that she was brave enough to make this big decision, no matter how it turns out in the future.

Im glad for the change. Eteri’s school teaches technique that doesnt last much longer past puberty. Not to mention the reportedly toxic atmosphere there

The question is whether it’s possible to change your technique when you 18? It’s actually pretty a lot for a muscle memory.

At least we will see new programs of Evgenia without death theme. Good changes for her!
